There are typically two types of veg momos exist one is steamed and second is fried. Momos usually served with spicy red chilli sauce. Veg Momos Recipe: Ingredients
For Veg Momos Dough:
- Maida -200 gm
- Salt – ¼ teaspoon
- Water – 120 ml (warm water)
For Veg Momos Filling:
- Carrots -1 cup (grated)
- Cabbage – 1 cup (grated)
- Onion – ½ cup (finely chopped)
- Paneer – ½ cup (crumbled) (optional)
- Garlic -1 teaspoon chopped
- Soya Sauce – 1 teaspoon
- Vinegar – ¼ teaspoon
- Black pepper – ¼ teaspoon
- Fresh Coriander Leaves – 2 teaspoon (finely chopped)
- Refine Oil – 1 tablespoon
- Salt – 1 teaspoon or as per taste
For Veg Momos Chutney:
- Tomatoes – 2
- Fresh Red Chilli – 3
- Dry Red Chilli – 2
- Fresh Coriander Leaves – 1 teaspoon
- Garlic – 2 cloves
- Sugar – 1 teaspoon
- Vinegar – 1 teaspoon
- Salt – 1 teaspoon or as per taste
Method – How to Make Veg Momos Dough
Step 1 – Take a large bowl and add maida, salt, water and knead in soft dough.
Step 2 – Cover the dough with muslin cloth and keep aside for 1 hour.
Method – How to Make Veg Momos Filling
Step 1 – Grated carrots, cabbage and paneer and chopped onions.
Step 2 – Now take a pan and add oil in it after heating up the oil add garlic and saute it for 1 min.
Step 3 – Now add onion and saute it for 1 min, now add carrots, cabbage and paneer and again saute it for 2 min.
Step 4 – Now add soya sauce, vinegar, black pepper and salt, saute it for 5 min more.
Step 5 – After 5 min turn off the gas and add chopped coriander leave.
Step 6 – Now veg momos filling is ready and Keep it aside.
Method – How to Fold Veg Momos
Step 1 – Take veg momos dough and knead it again for 2-3 min.
Step 2 – Now take small portion of dough (almost small lemon sized) and lightly sprinkle maida on dough surface and then roll out each ball into a 3 inch diameter circle. It should not be too thick or too thin.
Step 3 – Now place a tablespoon of the prepared veg momos filling in the centre of rolled out circle.
Step 4 – Lift one side of the edge and start folding and forming the pleats one by one towards the end and join the pleats in the centre.
Method – How to Steam Veg Momos
Step 1 – Take a steamer and add water in it, on high flame boil the water.
Step 2 – Oil the steamer surface lightly before putting the momos in it.
Step 3 – Now put the momos after the water is boiling.
Step 4 – Steam the momos about 10 minutes.
Step 5 – After 10 min momos are ready.
Method – How to Make Veg Momos Red Chutney
Step 1 – Take a pan and pour 2 cup of water and put in cut tomatoes and dry red chilli and cook them on medium flame for 10 min.
Step 2 – After 10 min now remove extra water from the mixture of tomatoes & dry red chilli and place them in a bowl.
Step 3 – Now move tomatoes & dry red chilli mixture, fresh red chilli, garlic, vinegar, sugar and salt in a grinder jar.
Step 4 – Grind it into smooth paste.
Step 5 – Now move the chutney in small serving bowl and add finely chopped coriander leaves and mix well; now veg momos red chutney is ready.
Serving Veg Momos
- Serve hot steamed veg momos with red chutney and mayonnaise.
Tips to Make Veg Momos
- Make sure that you grease the steamer surface with oil so they won’t be stick to the metal.
- Have some space between momos while putting them in a steamer.
- You can also store the momos in refrigerator and steam later when you want.
